Early Years Autism Specialist
Welcome and thank you for visiting my website.
My name is Katie and I am an early years autism specialist offering support, advice and play based interventions for pre-school children in areas of East Sussex and West Kent.
I believe that early intervention is crucial for the social, emotional and educational development of young children who are recognised to be on the autistic spectrum.
I follow a child led approach, using a range of evidence based strategies that build on a child's interests and strengths in order to teach a new skill.
I work with families because they are the most influential people in a child's life. I provide information and strategies to help develop the communication, social and play skills needed to support their child in their day to day life.

I have worked with autistic children and their families in their homes and a variety of educational settings in the South East for over 20 years. During that time I was involved in the development of Bexley Early Autism Service (BEAS) and was employed as part of this service, working alongside Speech & Language therapists, Educational Psychologists and Occupational therapists.
I am very thankful to them for the knowledge and expertise I gained during that time. Since then, I have moved to East Sussex and have set up my own independent private practice.

The strategies and interventions I use will be tailor made for your child, they will capture your children's attention and promote all aspects of their development.

'Sometimes the smallest step in the right direction ends up being the biggest step of your life'
Katie is professional, kind, reliable and extremely knowledgeable regarding children's development and importantly, strategies to help both parent and child with any ASD issues. She was invaluable when it came to helping me to manage Nathan's behaviour and to understand how best to help him to learn and develop.
The play therapy sessions brought Tommy's speech out and improved his social skills. It was as if she had opened the door to Tommy’s thoughts and feelings. In a very short space of time his communication skills began to flourish, using a breadth of words and sentences that had us in tears of joy and relief.
Katie provided invaluable emotional support at a time when my daughter was given a diagnosis of severe ASD and my world was turned upside down. Discharged from other services and left to ‘get on with it’, Katie went above and beyond what was expected of her providing the emotional support, advice and just being there. She is so kind hearted and thoughtful and nothing was ever too much for her.
